Designated Giving to The Voice of the Martyrs

You want your gifts to count for the glory of God and so do we.  This is why The Voice of the Martyrs has set up these special funds to which Canadian churches and individuals can especially designate their gifts in helping to fund specific kinds of ministry to persecuted Christians around the world that are in line with our purposes as a mission.  Your gifts to these special funds provide the means by which our persecuted brothers and sisters can be effectively reminded that you have not forgotten them.

A Christian sister enjoying the benefits of Jars of HopeJars of Hope allows Canadian Christians to: a) personally sponsor a child whose parents have been martyred for their faith, b) sponsor a small micro credit loan to a dear brother or sister to help establish them in a small business or occupation that will allow them to become self sufficient, or c) sponsor the biblical training of a Christian leader in a persecuted nation so that he can better serve the suffering church in his nation.

Here's one example of a project supported by the Jars of Hope Fund:

Hundreds of Christians have been killed in recent years during riots by Islamists in northern Nigeria.  In partnership with the Stephen Centre in Nigeria, in a special orphanage set up especially to meet their needs, The Voice of the Martyrs helps support the education and living expenses of a number of children who have lost one or both of their parents. You can sponsor one of these dear kids, some of whom actually witnessed their parents being martyred.  You can support this important ministry through your donations to the Jars of Hope Fund. Equipping the SaintsThe Equipping the Saints Fund helps meet the educational needs facing today’s persecuted church in countries facing potential persecution by providing pastoral training, Bibles, Christian literature, and other similar projects.

Here's one example of a project supported by the Equipping the Saints Fund:

Today, The Voice of the Martyrs operates what may well be the largest "Bible college" in Ethiopia through our Levites School program.  Hundreds of church leaders throughout Ethiopia are being trained in biblical studies in their own villages; training they could never afford by enrolling in a formal Bible college.  Rather that having them come to a school to be trained, we take the school to them.  Qualified and dedicated Ethiopian teachers instruct these key leaders how to reach their cities and towns for Christ, basic Bible doctrine, the biblical theology of persecution, and Bible study methods.  You can support this vital ministry to our Ethiopian brothers and sisters through your donations to the Equipping the Saints Fund. Vietnamese police destroying worship facilityThe Underground Church Fund helps provide assistance and encouragement to believers in especially severe restricted areas such as parts of the Muslim world and North Korea.  Many of the projects funded by this vital fund cannot be publicized.

Here's one example of a project supported by the Underground Church Fund:

Today Eritrea is the most closed country in Africa and one of the most closed in all of the world.  Through shortwave radio programs, The Voice of the Martyrs is providing vital and appreciated encouragement to the believers of Eritrea during these difficult days.  Through broadcasting the testimonies of other persecuted believers, Eritrean Christians are being encouraged to follow their examples of faithfulness. Through broadcasting biblical teaching on persecution, leaders are learning how to build up their churches and individuals are embracing the promises and truths of God's Word.  Reports that we have received out of Eritrea show that our programs are being heard and greatly appreciated, as believers scramble to write down what they are hearing.  You can support this vital ministry to our beseiged brothers and sisters through your donations to the Underground Church Fund.  To donate to this fund, designate your gift when you make a donation securely online, by mail or call us at 1.905.670.9721 (click here for contact information).

The Families of the Martyrs FundThe Families of Martyrs Fund supplies the means by which VOMC can provide encouragement and assistance to families left destitute by the imprisonment, death or exile of a father and/or mother because of their faith.

Here's one example of a project supported by the Families of Martyrs Fund:

Christians in Eritrea are being persecuted like no where else in Africa today. At least 2000 are presently imprisoned or detained in remote military camps.  Getting practical aid into the country is difficult and dangerous for local believers. Through various and creative means, The Voice of the Martyrs is finding ways to provide monetary assistance to families whose loved one is in prison for his/her faith.  Please uphold this ministry in your prayers. You can support this vital ministry to our brothers and sisters and their families in Eritrea through your donations to the Families of Martyrs Fund. To donate to this fund, designate your gift when you make a donation securely online, by mail or call us at 1.905.670.9721 (click here for contact information).

The Relief and Development FundThe Relief and Development Fund helps provide relief aid to needy, persecuted Christian’s families, job training, refugee assistance, and other practical means of meaningful help and encouragement.  Much of our work in Sudan , for example, is financed through donations to this fund.

Here's one example of a project supported by the Relief & Development Fund:

The Voice of the Martyrs is assisting a Bible school in Burma with repairing the structural repairs to the damage done to several of its buildings as Cyclone Nargis moved across southern Burma on the evening of Friday, May 2, 2008.  This important evangelical institution trains church leaders from across Burma.  You can support this ministry to our Burmese brothers and sisters through your donations to the Relief & Development Fund. To donate to this fund, designate your gift when you make a donation securely online, by mail or call us at 1.905.670.9721 (click here for contact information).

The Raising a Voice FundThe Raising a Voice Fund is especially designated to assisting The Voice of the Martyrs with the expensive but vital task of communicating the needs of today’s Persecuted Church to the free world through the use of electronic media such as the Internet, video, radio and television.

Here's one example of a project supported by the Raising a Voice Fund:

The Voice of the Martyrs assists in funding a number of key organizations that help raise awareness of persecution around the world. We do this because of their key contacts in places like eastern Europe and China, for example, and their proven reliabilty in getting accurate information which assists us in fulfilling our mission.  By working together rather than in competition, we are able to assist our persecuted brothers and sisters in ways that we could not do separately or on our own. This also helps us to be better stewards of your donations. You can support these vital partnerships through your donations to the Raising a Voice Fund. To donate to this fund, designate your gift when you make a donation securely online, by mail or call us at 1.905.670.9721 (click here for contact information).

Children with Christmas presentsOperation Christmas Blessing is a fund designated to helping needy Christian children and their family in restricted countries in an annual special project every Christmas.

This December, we are hoping to provide gift packages to 3500 children of house church believers throughout China. Each package will include a school bag, pencil sharper, 24-colour pen, socks, a pencil case and pencil, a ping pong set, a small flashlight, a Christmas colouring book, a hat and scarf, and candy.  Each package costs $20.  Imagine how a little girl living in a house church-managed orphanage or the son of an arrested house church leader will feel when they receive one of these pakages, knowing that Christians in Canada love and pray for them.  Join us in sharing our love with the children of China's underground house church by designating a gift to Operation Christmas Blessing when you make a donation securely online, by mail or call us at 1.905.670.9721 (click here for contact information).

Parvez Masih facing trial for blasphemy in PakistanThe Legal Defense Fund helps provide for the legal costs of Christians arrested for their faith. Such costs are often far beyond their ability to pay, thereby denying them of the opportunity to receive adequate legal representation.

Here's one example of a project supported by the Legal Defense Fund:

The Voice of the Martyrs has established a special legal defense fund to assist Chinese church leaders who have been arrested and imprisoned for their faith. Without this aid, their families and/or their church often have to sell possessions or go into debt.  Alternately, they will simply not be able to afford quality legal aid, resulting in longer times in prison and/or larger fines.  You can support this vital ministry to our imprisoned brothers and sisters through your donations to the Legal Defense Fund. To donate to this fund, designate your gift when you make a donation securely online, by mail or call us at 1.905.670.9721 (click here for contact information).

General FundsGeneral Funds provide the financial means by which VOMC is able to continue to carry out its mandate.  Without undesignated or general donations, we would simply not be able to do our work overseas or raise awareness here in Canada . We ask you to consider this when making designated gifts and give a portion to our General Funds.

Read our article "Raising a Voice" which describes how persecuted Christians, themselves, see the importance of not sending all funding overseas. To donate to the General Fund, designate your gift when you make a donation securely online, by mail or call us at 1.905.670.9721 (click here for contact information).
